McDonald’s restaurants in Sweden have started producing billboards that double as bee hotels.

Without pollination from bees 1/3 of the food we eat would be threatened.  The problem is that bees lack places to live.

So the fast food giant have come up with a buzzworthy solution – Bee Hotels.

The ‘hotels’ double up as billboards  – permanent wood installations with drilled holes in the copy (“Always open”) where wild bees and other insects can make themselves comfortable.

All McDonald’s franchisees have the opportunity to order their own bee hotel boards and customise the messaging.

McDonald’s has also started a collaboration with JC Decaux to create habitats for wild bees on the back of billboards that would otherwise not be utilised.

In May the company unveiled a mini version of its iconic restaurant – in the form of a fully functional beehive.

Meanwhile In Holland they’re turning Bus Stops into Bee Stops
