This airline will give you a year of free flights if you wipe your Instagram account

JetBlue has launched a baffling new contest that will give three winners a year of free flights on the carrier.

To be in with a chance of winning users must delete all of their Instagram photos, post a new photo using a JetBlue template and hope to be one of the lucky three.

JetBlue doesn’t appear to make any explanation as to say WHY your Instagram needs to be cleared, though it did note that you can archive your pictures rather than delete them entirely.

A writer from Tech Crunch notes “Perhaps the carrier would like to replicate the same viral moment that #FyreFestival did with that burnt orange square. Or maybe I’m falling into their trap as we speak, as a seemingly crazy request to delete an entire Instagram history is inherently a bit of a publicity stunt.”

JetBlue advertising and content manager, Heather Berko, said in a statement. “This year, we’re thrilled to bring back the coveted, unlimited travel pass with a twist: a social sweepstakes asking people to create a blank slate for the opportunity to live the jetsetter lifestyle, making memories and pursuing their passions in more than 100 JetBlue destinations for a full year!”

This weird promotion got a ridiculous amount of media coverage.
