Deliveroo recreates iconic ‘Lunch Atop a Skyscraper’ photograph

Perilously perched atop a 450ft high metal girder, during the construction of the Rockefeller Center, the photograph of 11 workers on their lunch break back in 1932 has since become internationally recognisable.

86 years on, Deliveroo have recreated the iconic photograph with the help of some very lucky competition winners.

Research from the food delivery app revealed that millions of British workers are suffering from meal monotony with a third stuck in a rut and eating the same lunch every day.

The free ballot offered the fearless few the opportunity to break the cycle and enjoy the most extreme lunch break of their lives.

Emily Kraftman at Deliveroo said “Deliveroo has been committed to delivering the most amazing food experiences all summer, whatever the weather, be it to the beach, a park, at home or 450ft in the air. When thinking about infamous lunches, the photograph from Rockefeller Center is hard to beat, but we thought we might as well give it a go!”

Tucking in to a thoroughly modern selection of meals from KFC, pizzeria Firezza and vegan restaurant Chloe the winners were safely secured with thankfully equally modern harnesses 32 floors above the ground at one of the tallest buildings in central London. Just don’t look down…
