Ikea team up with Man Booker Prize to create a Reading Room

Ikea has revealed plans for a reading room, which will allow members of the public to drop in, pick up a book and even take it home – for free.

The initiative is a brand partnership with the Man Booker Prize.

Metro says the project will allow people to read and take away a copy of one of the 13 longlisted titles in the literary competition.

Luis Lopez, head of living rooms of IKEA UK and Ireland said ‘Reading at home is good for your health and the living room is the perfect, tranquil setting to do so, providing a peaceful haven from the outside world. In partnering with The Man Booker Prize we know we are giving people the chance to read the best of this year’s books.’

The Reading room will be available at their Wembley store.

Research by airline easyJet has led to the launch of a European-wide initiative to encourage children to get hooked on a book this Summer.

300 ‘Flybraries’ (flying libraries) took off this month stocked with 17,500 children’s books translated in seven languages.

In May the Swedish homestore brand announced they would be using lavender scented ads to help people sleep better.
