Hopeful graduate recreates ‘Fearless Girl’ outside McCann Bristol

By on Thursday, May 10, 2018

Advertising is a highly competitive industry and with so many applicants brandishing similar degrees, graduates need some way of standing out.

One graduate recently chose to get the attention of McCann Bristol in a way they really couldn’t ignore – by recreating one of the ad agency’s best loved campaigns.

We all remember McCann New York’s “Fearless Girl”, the hard-hitting female empowerment campaign, which featured a bronze statue of a young girl standing defiantly across from the iconic raging bull statue on Wall Street.

Rightfully it went on to sweep up media coverage and take home numerous awards last year

Earlier this week, Jade Delaney, an aspiring copywriter and recent graduate from the University of Gloucestershire, spray painted herself in gold and stood outside McCann Bristol’s offices.

She mirrored the same defiant pose of the original statue, in the hope that she might be offered a work placement at the firm.

Andy Reid, managing director of McCann Bristol, said: “We are lucky enough to be inundated with the CVs of graduates who are looking to take their first step on the career ladder. Jade has been brave enough to stand out from the crowd, which is a fantastic trait for anyone starting a career in advertising.”

Sounds like she got the job!

So what are we really seeing here – a smart one-year-on PR stunt from McCann or the keenest and most creative applicant ever?

Either way, hat’s off.
