Free lunch AND gin PR stunts in London today – but be quick

By on Wednesday, January 24, 2018

A couple of food and drink PR-led giveaways happening today in London.

Firstly

This from Lone Wolf Spirits, an offshot of BrewDog. In short, get some free gin, you mothers.

Secondly

A pop-up restaurant is serving up free lunches at 176 Drury Lane, today – but be quick, because it closes at 3pm.

Hellmann’s, Marmite and Knorr have partnered up, like a slightly underwhelming household food brand version of The Avengers, and want to inspire Londoners to ‘delve into their cupboards at home and make something to eat from what they have already’.

The pop-up is backed up by a survey that apparently shows that the public have on average just £28.26 in their bank account at the end of January.

As such, and leaning into the idea of budget cooking, for one day the ‘Cupboard Love Café‘ has been serving three dishes – one for each of the brands – that they’ve calculated would cost £1 each to make:

  • Portobello mushroom coated in a Marmite glaze and stuffed with cream cheese and wilted spinach
  • Moroccan style fluffy couscous, topped with bacon, dried fruit and chickpea tagine flavoured with Knorr vegetable stock
  • Asian inspired tuna & Hellmann’s mayonnaise maki roll, with avocado, cucumber and a dash of Sriracha sauce
