DJ’s want a ‘pizza’ the action

You’ve just shared a Pizza Hut with ‘the squad’ and now you’re bored. The options seem endless but would you ever think to use the box you’d just discarded on the living room floor? Well, Pizza Hut in the UK has unveiled a working set of DJ decks printed onto none other than a takeaway box. Their YouTube video gives a tour of the decks and has already gained over 100,000 views.

The box was developed with Cambridge-based technology brand, Novalia and comes preprinted with two decks, a crossfader, pitch volumes and cue buttons. Disappointingly, there are only five boxes available across the 350 restaurants nationwide. And that’s not the worst of it. If you want a set of decks you have to go and collect your pizza!

Targeting the younger demographic is key to Pizza Hut’s business model, with their current marketing and PR campaigns embracing technology suited to the ‘always on’ consumer. It appears Pizza Hut are taking this (PR stunt) seriously by investing in technology and launching with P Money and DJ Vectra. But since the launch in August, little has been said about the product.

The idea is neat, and it must be hard to innovative in the pizza delivery marketplace, but I can’t help feeling that this is just a PR stunt for the sake of it.

PS The decks come in a separate box to your pizza, so you won’t break your fader with pepperoni grease hands. Hurrah.
