Every supporter that watched the team play their first home game in the Humber Premier League (the eleventh tier of football) received £2.

Owner and manager of the newly-formed side Jamie Waltham came up with the stunt because, although he believes “everyone in Hull is really proud of what Hull City have achieved”, he feels people the Premier League prices people out of being able to support local football.

As part of the incentives for fans, spectators that watched the game also received a ticket for this Sunday’s HullFest music festival.

According to this piece on the Hull Daily Mail, 418 fans watched as Hull United beat Hedon Rangers 4-1.
