Giant Mr Darcy emerges from the Serpentine to launch new TV channel
By Alex Mansell on Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Mr Darcy emerging from the lake in *that* scene has long been known to whip up a frenzy, but Taylor Herring took this one step further recently to launch a new UKTV channel, Drama TV.
A survey commissioned by the channel saw the scene voted the most iconic TV moment in British drama, so recreating it with a giant version of the beautiful man was always going to turn heads. They had a 12ft version of him appear from the Serpentine in Hyde Park yesterday in a fantastic photo-led stunt.
The stunt has resulted in a blizzard of coverage – The Guardian, the Mail Online, Metro, Sky News, The Independent, Radio Times, ITV News, Daily Express, Huffington Post, Time Out, MSN, Yahoo!, London Evening Standard, Stylist, BBC , Vogue and even our friends across the pond, USA Today, to name a few.
Giant Mr Darcy Darcy will be visiting Scarborough beach before heading to Lyme Park in Cheshire, where the original scene was filmed, and where he’ll remain until February 2014.
Nice work!
