Student sings ‘Let’s Get it On’ to shocked lecturer to highlight worthy cause

Although the majority of stunts and campaigns you’ll see on PRexamples are executed by brands, I was sent an email this week by Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology student, Nicola McNeely, in which student Emma O’Connell serenades her unsuspecting lecturer John Carty with a (very good) cover of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get it On and I thought it was well worth sharing, to demonstrate how sheer balls can be just as important as budget when it comes to stunt planning.

Inappropriate as it may be, the impromptu song was to highlight an open mic night being held at the Cellar Bar, Galway tomorrow night, with all proceeds going to Irish suicide and self harm charity Pieta House. The video opens with students answering the question ‘What would you do to be in with a chance to win a day in a recording studio’; the prize the open mic night winner will receive.

With almost 15,000 views, the video seems to have done the trick to raise the profile of the event. Watch it below:

This Facebook page has more information about the night for anybody interested.
