EE provide cinema experience on cliff edge to demonstrate 4G coverage

Did you know that EE provides 80% of the UK with coverage? No neither did I. So to help demonstrate this point, EE created the 4GEE Community Cinema Club, which brings the outdoor cinema experience to rural communities.

The first event saw rock climbers suspended on portaledge tents, hanging off the side of Gimmer Crag’s rockface in Cumbria, not what I’d call a relaxing cinema experience but hey-ho everyone to their own!

With EE’s crazy powerful 4G, the climbers were able to screen movies from more than 500 metres above sea level – pretty sure that’s a world first.

EE will be bringing the outdoor cinema experience to less scary venues across Wales, England and Scotland – a number of rural communities will be given a 4GEE Community Cinema Kit, which includes a 4G WiFi device, wireless speakers, a projector and a movie streaming voucher, so they can still watch movies online.

Max Taylor, managing director of Marketing at EE, said: “This year we celebrated the 20th year of our long-standing partnership with BAFTA and announced that our 4G coverage now stretches to more than 80% of the UK. The 4GEE Community Cinema Club is the perfect way to demonstrate the power of our 4G connectivity through film. Our superfast 4G network lets our customers stream the entertainment they love, wherever they are – even if that happens to be camping on a cliff face in the Lake District.”

You can apply via the EE website to have the Community Cinema Club visit your area – that is if you live somewhere rural with no signal or coverage.
