H&M create 10ft statues of underwear-clad Beckham

By on Friday, August 24, 2012

To promote the latest collection of David Beckham Bodywear for H&M, two 10 foot tall silver statues of the man himself, in all his glory, have been placed outside the Regent Street store in London.

They are the first 2 statues of this kind to appear in the UK. A further 7 will be revealed, however the locations have not yet been released. This falls in line with the 9 statues that were unveiled around the United States over the past few weeks, including New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The statues will eventually be re-homed inside the store, but in the meantime passersby are going stir crazy for a picture with the footballer, who has been tagged ‘Silver Balls’ by the press in light of these monuments, a twist on his usual nickname ‘Golden Balls’.

60 men who happened to pass by the store yesterday, when the statues were put into place, were gifted with a freebie in the form of a vest from the new collection, which is the second created by Beckham for H&M.

I sure hope to see one of these pop up on my local high street over the coming weeks!

Beckham has said of the range:

“I am so excited about this new campaign for David Beckham Bodywear at H&M.

I wanted to express the strength and quality of the David Beckham Bodywear collection with these images, and also the wearability and fit.

I love the range, and feel so comfortable in each of the pieces. As soon as the collection was launched, it became second nature for me to wear it!”
